At Overseas Family School (OFS), we embrace the transformative power of sports to build character, resilience, and sportsmanship. The OFS Tigers Swim Team embodies these values, providing students with opportunities to excel in swimming while unlocking their full potential. From Kindergarten to High School, students can choose swimming as part of their Extra-Curricular Activities, with programs tailored to various skill levels. For those ready to take their skills to the next level, our OFS Tigers Swim Team offers a competitive edge and a pathway to greater achievements. Read on to find out the different programs available!
Elementary School Competitive Swim Program
Our Elementary School (ES) Competitive Swim Team is the perfect starting point for young swimmers who are comfortable with swimming and are eager to take their skills to the next level. Following a "Learning-to-Train" and "Training-to-Train" approach, this program offers 10 training sessions per week, each lasting up to 120 minutes. We require a minimum attendance of 4 sessions per week to help our young athletes build a strong foundation and foster consistency.
The focus here is on developing competitive techniques, building endurance, and instilling a love for the sport. Swimmers also get to learn about teamwork and discipline, key attributes that set them up for success as they grow.
Middle and High School Competitive Swim Programs
For older students, the Middle School (MS) and High School (HS) Competitive Swim Teams focus on advanced training, transitioning from "Training-to-Train" to "Training-to-Compete." Our athletes participate in 10 sessions a week, each lasting 120 minutes, with a minimum attendance of 6 sessions required.
Here, we emphasize skill refinement, race strategies, and competitive conditioning, preparing our swimmers to perform at their peak. These sessions are demanding but incredibly rewarding, shaping our athletes into confident, capable and courageous competitors ready to take on any challenge.
At OFS, we see swimming as more than just a sport, it’s a holistic journey of growth and self-improvement. Our swimming program has three main aims:

1. Personal and Physical Development
We offer our students the chance to engage in a lifelong sport that promotes physical fitness and healthy habits. Beyond just building strength and endurance, we focus on personal growth, helping students develop high self-esteem, resilience, and a positive self-image.
2. Competitive Development
We provide a nurturing environment where the desire for self-improvement fuels every swimmer. Through our training, athletes learn the values of hard work, dedication, time management and perseverance. Our goal is to cultivate honesty, integrity, good sportsmanship, and team loyalty, shaping well-rounded individuals who excel both in and out of the pool.
3. ACSIS and Singapore Aquatics
We actively participate in Singapore Aquatics’ sanctioned events as well as the direction, support and administration of Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS), to further the growth and development of competitive swimming as a contributor to the national program in the country. We also provide the teaching, mentoring, leadership in the region that will allow Singapore to continue to grow as one of the centers of competitive swimming.

A Year-Round Commitment
Swimming at OFS is a year-round sport for our committed athletes to continuously hone their skills and maintain peak performance. The OFS Tigers compete in the ACSIS, various invitational competitions, and, for those who qualify, a range of Singapore national and international events.
Celebrating Our Achievers

We’re incredibly proud of our competitive swimmers who have made waves both locally and internationally. A shining example of this is our trio of stars:
Jill Meines (Grade 11),
Naya Verma (Grade 10), and
Jiunn Hern Lim (Grade 12). These talented athletes have qualified for the prestigious
Swimming World Cup Finals, competing alongside some of the biggest names in the sport, including Olympic champions and world record holders.

Their journey began here at OFS, where early morning swims, late evening practices, and countless hours in the gym forged their path to success. Now, they have the incredible opportunity to represent Singapore at the highest level of competition, and even compete in and among many of the biggest names in swimming including the Olympic Champions and World Record Holders. It’s a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and the relentless support from our professional coaches and teammates.
Through a progressive overload approach, our philosophy of pursuing excellence is consistent throughout the program in every swimmer, novice through potential Olympian. We want every swimmer to swim to the best of their own ability and seek the opportunity to attain the level of excellence to which their desire and ability will move them.

Non-Competitive Program
While we take pride in our competitive program, we also recognize the importance of making swimming accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Through our Enrichment Programs, students from all grades can learn to swim and progress towards the competitive program. Whether you’re in Kindergarten, Elementary School (Grades 2 to 5), Middle School, or High School, there’s a place for you in our swim community.

Our Philosophy: Striving for Excellence
At OFS, we believe that the journey is just as important as the destination. Our philosophy is consistent across every level of our swim program: we encourage each swimmer to strive for excellence, pushing themselves to become the best they can be. Whether you’re a novice or a potential Olympian, we’re here to support your growth every step of the way.
We want every swimmer and their families to enjoy the experience, celebrate the progress, and cherish the memories made along the way. Because at OFS, we’re not just building strong swimmers—we’re shaping confident, well-rounded individuals ready to make a splash in whatever they pursue.

The OFS Swim program strives to instill in young swimmers an understanding of and appreciation for such concepts as high self-esteem, personal accountability, constructive self-motivation, goal-setting, and goal achievement as their ideas relate to their success in training and in competition.
